CHECK OUT WEBAPP 2.1.0 BETA 1!

July 1, 2015 by Marc S

In the past couple of months we have been working on improving the user experience. We have put a lot of work in this release and we are curious about your thoughts on these new features, improvements and bugfixes.

WHAT IS NEW?

Lots of new features! Most of them have been designed based on feedback from you: the partners, customers and community of Zarafa. Thanks for your valuable input. These are some of the highlights.

Advanced search

ZCP 7.2 introduced the brand-new search plus, which provides enhanced indexing and searching options. The new search toolbox in WebApp leverages this new backend by allowing you to search through everything in your inbox at once: subfolders, different types of items (email, calendar, contacts or tasks) – everything is available at the press of a button.

Infinite scroll

WebApp originally came with paging as the way to go through your inbox. You can now keep scrolling through all items in your inbox: WebApp loads the next ‘batch’ of items as you move towards the bottom of the list. Prefer the paging method? Don’t worry, you can still switch back via your personal settings.

Improved order of folders in hierarchy

The order of folders in the hierarchy has been improved. The primary folders (such as inbox, drafts, outbox and sent items) have gotten a more prominent position in the folder navigation pane – they are now at the top of the list. The rest of the folders (and subfolders) are still sorted alphabetically.

Email templating (‘edit as new’)

You can now re-send a previously sent email directly from your sent items folder. Select it and select ‘Edit as new’ from the context menu – WebApp will open a new editor with the exact content of that message: recipients, subject, attachments and message content. To find some inspiration on this new feature check out the blog of our colleague Teun Dappers.

Send later (‘delayed delivery’)

A new plugin for WebApp allows you to pick the time an email will be sent out. You could use this to make sure an email shows up in a customer mailbox at 9:00 in the morning, in a different time zone without having to wake up in the middle of the night.

Setting a fixed color for a calendar

Managing a lot of different calendars made a (little) easier. We’ve introduced new colors for the calendars, and also give you the option to set a static color for a calendar so it will always be displayed in that color. Not enough colors? You can add more in the configuration file.

And even more…

Besides the list above some (seemingly) smaller new features and improvements have been introduced:

  • Expansion of distribution lists
  • Creating a task from an email
  • Printing notes and tasks
  • Downloading attachments and emails in ZIP format
  • Improved handling and support of more PDF file types

WHAT DID WE FIX?

Quite a list of fixes were introduced in this new version. Among which fixes within the HTML editor where formatting got lost, inline editing now properly breaks the quotation marks and many, many more. For the complete list take a look at the release notes.

KNOWN ISSUES

While performing our tests we found a few cosmetic issues with the search feature that was introduced in this version. We want to make you aware of these issues, you can expect them to be fixed in the next release.

  • When changing search terms and pressing enter, focus is not always switched back to the search tab
  • Unread items in search results sometimes updates unread counter of inbox folder to incorrect value
  • Searching in public or shared folders gives no results unless manually switched to ‘search in current folder only’

GOT OTHER FEEDBACK?

We would like to invite you all to take it for a test drive and experience the all-new improvements for yourselves. We would love to hear your feedback! If you have any, please post your thoughts, experiences or ideas in this thread.
